⠀ ⭐️ Day 9 of #SideBendsAndSitUps is a #Supine Ab Exercise. ⭐️ ⠀ #WallPressAbs is one of my favorite ways to get my core fired up, now with the “comfort” of lying on your back! 🤣Pressing hands into wall helps create length and keep spine straight while your lower back presses against floor. Reach long through the heel to straighten alternating legs. ⁣⠀⁣ I also love to add core compression in this drill (think thighs glued to belly)! These are basically #ToeTaps we see in fancy handstand work, except they’re slightly easier when you’re laying down (but still target the #transverseabdominals that are SO important to the elusive #handstandpress)! ⠀ ⭐️ Day 5 of #SideBendsAndSitUps is a #SideBend drill on knees. ⭐️ ⠀ Nothing too fancy here with these Quadruped Oblique Crunch exercises, but with enough slow & controlled reps, you will definitely feel the 🔥🔥! It seems so simple but it’s oh so effective in stretching out our entire side back & intercostal muscles. Reach up to find length first and then expand through the ribs to find that stretch. With the holiday season upon us, I want to feel strong AND flexible before all the eating & days off take over! ⠀ My cohosts all have different options to share for working our #obliques in standing side bends, so be sure to check everyone out. I personally love incorporating a hand weight into my #trianglepose. Slow movements coming in and out of the pose or even taking it into a #reversetriangle pose too... after too many technical difficulties & too many takes with this drill I can assure you they work! I was 100% sure I wasn’t going to be able to get it but surprised myself - you never know unless you try! Tip: spend some time during your hip opening warm up sitting in a #figure4chairpose - made this pose much more accessible! Also, once your foot makes contact to arm, LEAN forward for a better chance of it staying put! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Have you tried this one yet? Take any arm variation as we’re isolating the stretch to our piriformis, glutes, outer legs and IT band. In all, bent knees are slightly easier and if you’d like to take it further, straighten leg and actively push through your feet! Range of motion isn’t as important as long as you’re feeling your glute working. 🔥🔥 👉🏻Tabletop 👉🏻Downward Facing Dog 👉🏻Forward Fold These used to KILL me but with consistency and patience I now include them in my regular practice... practice makes progress! 👊🏻 ⠀ Make sure you check out all cohost’s posts to see their options and modifications for our last day of drills. I went with the #CamelPoseVariation because it’s one I conveniently NEVER remember to practice... because it’s always been kind of intimidating! ⁣⁣ Once I get to playing with the pose though, it does get easier and every time I lift back into it I can get higher up and hold it a tad bit longer. Don’t give up if this pose isn’t working for you yet! ⁣⁣⁣ I’m including a video of how I enter this pose, and you can see I move slowly and don’t actually hold the pose long at all! As I’m leaning back, I’m thinking HIPS UP, CHEST OPEN and QUADS DON’T FAIL ME! I present to you a very wobbly flow of poses, all done on one foot at a time. Almost lost it there a few times but happy that I managed to do both sides on the first take! 🙌🏻 . My video is sped up but I actually moved quite slowly in my wobbly flow! I loved this #lizardlunge variation that I recently saw @suchitra_rx post... but with it being almost Halloween, I threw on a witches hat, grabbed my spooky skeleton cat and have deemed it #YogiSeeYogiBoo! . . This pose wasn’t quite as challenging as it looks (as long as your hips & hammies are nice and warmed up!) so your challenge is to give this pose a little Halloween flair! . . Heels to ground in a Downdog... walking the dog... a twist to each side... top foot gently pushing down the heel of the bottom foot... lots of options for a nice calf stretch here! ⁣ It took me AGES to get my heels down in this pose, so if you’re not there yet be patient with your body! Throw in an alternating #drinkingbirdpose and your calves will hate you now but thank you later! ⁣ Anyone have big plans this weekend? I’ll be dance-momming with my girls which will include hours of downtime in a hotel ballroom while my dancers take master classes. ⁣ ⁣ 💪🏻 Day 4 of #StrongFlexyYogi is our POSE for #QuadFlexibility 💪🏻 ⁣ ⁣ Time to S T R E T C H out those quads! I’ve been meaning to try out this #bhekasana / #shoulderstand hybrid that @helen_garner_yoga did for #yogiseeyogido a few weeks ago and today was the perfect day for it (and apparently my cohost @geeoice_yoga had the same idea 🙌🏻)! Regular #bhekasana pose with both quads stretched at the same time is super intense for me, so I generally prefer to stretch one leg at a time. ⁣ ⁣ 💪🏻 Day 3 of #StrongFlexyYogi is our DRILL for #QuadStrength 💪🏻 ⁣ ⁣ Lift knee to 90 degrees... extend leg (I like to tap the wall to make sure my leg stays high enough)... repeat until you feel the sizzle.
