In over 16 years of being a T1 diabetic, I’ve never gotten sick of having something attached to my body until recently. I’m now on day 5 of not wearing an insulin pump or a continuous glucose monitor. I think part of the reason why are the issues I’ve been having with my pump and my lack of trust in it, while also being extremely fatigued and having bad joint pain from my EOE. The thought of having to reload the cartridge, insert a new infusion set, and then do it again in a couple of days became too much. It’s been a nice break, but while I feel somewhat better mentally, I can feel myself physically declining. My long acting insulin is wearing off around now so I finally restarted and connected my insulin pump. I still don’t have the energy to insert a new CGM sensor and I’ve even put off injecting my Dupixent, a very painful shot that’s the closest thing to a cure there is for my severe eczema. Fellow spoonies will understand that even showering has been too difficult lately. I’m hoping that that will be possible tomorrow, along with taking my Dupixent if I push it. And hopefully I can insert a new sensor some time soon. Bree has helped me survive technology free this past week, and I couldn’t be prouder of how she’s handled the tough task of keeping me going. Sorry for the drab post, but I wanted to be real with you guys. We had possibly the biggest scare ever early this morning. Griffin suffered a grand mal seizure that lasted upwards of 5 minutes (that's a LONG time for a seizure to last). Afterwards, Griffin had spiked himself, was disoriented, anxious, (temporarily) blind, and his behaviour completely changed. This was terrifying for us because, up until this point, Griffin has never had a seizure. It's a more common symptom of inflammatory brain disease but we assumed that with his flare-up being under control, that we had dodged something as serious as a seizure. Apparently not. . . We rushed Griffin to our vet specialist for assessment and Griffin is now on powerful anti-epileptic medication to see if we can prevent this from reoccuring. It's been a terrible tough time for Griffin (and for us). We are thankful that we were able to so quickly turn around this time and bring him home from the vet office (and that this wasn't another multi-day stay in hospital). Griffin has suffered no visible ill-effects from this episode but we are wary of what might happen next for Griffin....luck seems to not be on our side it feels like. For right now, we are counting our blessings and enjoying every day that we get with Griffin because life is too short to worry about all of the 'what-ifs' all of the time. Please keep Griffin in your thoughts as he continues to battle his autoimmune disease.

After emptying our pumpkins for their seeds, we decided to share a pumpkin with Rey. She did not disappoint. Max was far too sophisticated to join in on such uncivilized behavior.
