Trees can be pretty heavy... This deadlift into a squat thing was not the original plan. Tree didn't seem to care about my original plan and wasn't even trying to cooperate as far as I could tell. Lifting stuff in the woods will always have different levers and handles and there's much more to it than that. The point is to have fun and figure stuff out. #hadleyfitness #ryanhadleyfitness #trees #deadlift #squat #woods #nature #flow #lift #improvisation #ryanhadley #grappling #mma #ufc #bellator #yoga #movement #pathnotes #strengthandconditioning #power #strength #consciousness #woodsworkout #freestylebarbelltraining #pathnotespodcast #fun #friends #earthlings

M I N D S E T M O N D A Y . ••••• “Trade your expectation for appreciation, and the world changes around you” - Tony Robbins . ••••• There will be a final cup of morning coffee for us. chinese_allan_. Overarching in the lower back:

Overarching in the lower back: During the Snatch, Clean and Jerk it is important to keep a tight, strong torso. The torso acts as an anchor and stabilisation point for which the rest of the body will provide force through, without this firm base the body will waste energy applying force when it cannot be transferred efficiently through the whole body. Whilst every coach tells you to have a tight back, what they should be looking for and what the outcome of this cue will be are two very different things. A tight back cue will often cause the lifter to overarching their lower back, putting extra pressure through it, instead of sharing the load with the entire midline. Not only does this cue provides excess mechanical stress, it actually deters from the most efficient bar path. Why? This is because if you begin with an arched back, you will aim to maintain this position through the lift, and then when reaching hip/knee extension (standing up), the shoulders will be significantly behind the bar. Depending on the lifters strength (hip to quad strength ratio) the bar will either kick very far out and provide a long bar path with exaggerated curve or the lifter will jump backwards and the turnover of the bar will have a much larger degree of drop as it kicks back and travels backwards with the lifter. If the lifter constantly has a large curve in the lower back when creating tension, you may look to add in extra glute strengthening work because the lower back may also be taking some strain away from the glutes, therefore contradicting the equal magnitude principal of Chinese Weightlifting. Whilst the excessive curve in the lower back can cause these variations in trajectory, it is not the only part of the back that can cause these outcomes, look for that in an upcoming post on the role the upper back plays in Weightlifting. #olympicweightlifting #weightlifting #girlswholift #crossfit #gym #fitness #snatch #powerlifting #bodybuilding #cleanandjerk #olympiclifting #training #strength #squat #fit #workout #squats #fitnessmotivation #lifting #motivation #deadlift #wod #fitfam #gymmotivation #clean #strong #oly #power #olylifting #strengthandconditioning
