This would be a really fun series for me but that back walkover would be a hot mess on the high beam. 😳 I wonder if/when I’d be able to get enough mobility in my shoulder/thoracic spine to put both hands on the beam? Also need to work on those bent 🦵

Heres a beginner friendly way to start your journey. Doing a handstand can seem like a very daunting task for many of us. Like anything, if you approach it with baby steps it will seem much more possible. Watch as i show how to get to your handstand with mini goals!🍊 . . ⭕KEY POINTS 1.The wall is a GREAT prop for beginner and advanced handstanders. 2. You can break up your goal of handstanding into 4 mini goals. These essentially translate into the kick, getting hips over hands, building endurance and being able to balance. 3. As you build confidence and strength, focus on your engagement and alignment. Push hard into the floor, keep arms super straight, and engage your whole body from head to toe. It should feel almost like youre doing a plank upside down. Point your toes and pull in your rib cage, hollow out your body, squeeze your glutes. Its really useful to film yourself to check your alignment. 4. For most of us, handstands dont happen overnight. So remember, YOU DONT NEED TO DO IT ALL IN ONE DAY! Take your time. I think the similarity between balancing poses in yoga and finding balance with your lifestyle is kinda beautiful. Balancing poses are frustrating, one day you nail them like a boss and the next day you’re like bambi on ice. And finding a balance in your lifestyle can be just as temperamental. Work, friends, family, exercise, sleep - they all require our time but we don’t always nail the balance quite right. I know I for one definitely do not. Just like this video wasn’t my first take 😂 ⠀ But just like on the mat, you can take a little tumble and what else can you do than try again and hope to do a little better moving forwards? You don’t have to beat yourself up over not getting the balance quite right - just see if you can figure out what caused you to fall and try and correct it with your next effort. Did you let you gaze wander off? Did you hold your breath? Did you work long hours every day last week and not get enough sleep? Did you spend every weekend of the past month with friends and realise you’ve not seen your family in far too long? ⠀ In my opinion, losing your balance is simply human and shouldn’t be judged so harshly or negatively, just as long as you’re falling forwards and continually looking at how you can better yourself next time then it’s all just part of this rocky path we call life. ⠀ I made this little balancing flow for @mlilyofficial as part of the launch of their new Aria range.
