The strict press is probably the single best lift to get you thoroughly jacked. 165# x 2 possible PR - - In my 1st rep, you can see my sticking point, then suddlenly half-way through, I LEAN BACK more. And the weight goes up. This lean is the crux of this lift. Maintaining the glute squeeze and tight lower back while leaning back for maximum thoracic extension will give you the posture, strength, chest and shoulders of Hercules. The “jerk” a is more athletic and powerful overhead lift but doesn’t do the same thing to build upper body structure and strength - - Currently, I will focus on strict press, trap bar deadlift. When I first met Ashley his form needed work, so we stripped it back to basics and got Ashley moving with the bar again. With lower back issues and various set backs due to injuries, Ashley’s deadlift on week 2 was 35kg>>> fast forward to today he is reppin 100kg for sets! 🙌🏼 For someone entering the gym for the first time it can be daunting, and even more daunting to approach a personal trainer or ask for help... Gotta stay positive and know I’ll get back into shape soon enough. Our garage gym is just getting its finishing touches and will be done by the new year-so pumped to lift in my own dream space!
