Real footage from a consultation with one of my personal patients! . My patient was clearly having some neck pain gayer having surgery and this is not uncommon. After surgery, your neck can become very tight, and this can cause numbness/tingling sensations down your shoulder blade, neck pain and headaches. . -Some days, I have the energy to move weights and teach and practice my instrument and perform and 𝐃𝐎 𝐀𝐋𝐋 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠𝐬.⁣ ⁣ -Other days...walking the dogs feels like an accomplishment.⁣ ⁣ -It’s ok to be burnt out sometimes or just few fatigued.⁣ ⁣ -It’s ok to respect your need to chill and rest rather than pursue high intensity exercise, or do more work, or practice more. ⁣ ⁣ -It’s also ok to feel 𝐦𝐨𝐭𝐢𝐯𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐝 some days to work hard, and not on other days. It’s a balance between consistency, intuition, self care, and knowing when to rest.⁣ ⁣ -My boyfriend’s back surgery was a success Wednesday but I’m definitely feeling the fatigue of being the caregiver, wound dresser, dog whisperer, house cleaner, meal preparer, and performer/teacher.⁣ ⁣ -So this morning’s workout will be walking the dogs. If you’ve followed me for long enough, I will have convinced you that facepulls are life (for the healthy shoulder gains 💪) . Here’s my current favorite set up. . One of the most common mistakes people make with facepulls is to arch the low back and flare the ribs. This straight leg seated position prevents that from happening which forces you to use strict form. . Also note the pull to forehead and end position of wrists in-line with elbows. This will emphasize the external rotators which is the muscle we want to target with this variation. . Facepulls can be programmed as part of your warm up to prime the shoulder stabilizers or you can hit them at the end. Below is a guide for you to create a strong lower body! ⠀ ♦️ So, to get a well-rounded leg day, aim for 1-2 exercises per muscle group of the 4 above. I was on my last set of 3x10 Sotts Press at a relatively easy weight of 30kg but failed on the very last rep. . I’ve always found high volume pressing difficult in comparison to lower body movements like squats or pulls. For example, if I’m doing 3x10 squats and I complete my first set relatively easily, I know that the 3rd set shouldn’t be a problem. That almost never the case with pressing.
