Along the way, we lose the erratic movements and learn to control our bodies. This is done through practice and repetition. We see this a lot during early childhood development up through adolescence, when a child has pretty much mastered their bodies and basic movements. But new movements will still challenge us, as will pushing the limits on note established skills, like running faster or throwing harder. That’s why, even for adults, we continue hone in on movements, even ones that we think we’re already good at. This can lead to safer movements, better mind-muscle connection and more gains.
