Strength training and flexibility training really should go hand in hand. One doesn’t negate the other, but rather enhances the other. I thought I’d share some of my favorite exercises with you all that have really helped me gain strength, stability, and control in things like inversions and arm balances. It’s not yoga per se, but this routine is great because it doesn’t require a gym membership or weights. The first two clips are real time, the rest is sped up x2. I never share stuff like this, but I thought it could maybe be helpful if your looking for ideas. In week 5️⃣ of the Relieve to Reclaim Masterclass, we visit our upper body, chest and heart spaces. OH OUR HEARTS! 💙💙 We store so much hurt, trauma and pain in our heart spaces. We’ve become an epidemic of hunched over shoulders. We have to work on reversing this! ⁣ ⁣ Our upper backs and heart space/chest are connected through our ribs and muscles. Often times the chest wall is weak and can start to collapse giving the “hunched shoulders.” We are on our computers and phones constantly through the day, adding to poor posture and even more hunching over.⁣ ⁣ Have you ever realized that as our posture continues like this it is closing or collapsing our heart center?? 🙋🏼‍♀️Yup! Our heart literally starts to close and can figuratively start to close to, towards ourselves and others. We can become fearful to open our heart. It might actually HURT to open the chest and reverse the upper back hunching over. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣ Phew that’s a lot to take in, right. Pause here and let that sink in. ⁣ ⁣ Do you see why the upper back and chest are so important? They are directly related to the openness of our hearts! ⁣ ⁣⁣ In chakra yoga, our fourth Chakra lies in our HEART SPACE 💙 Our Heart chakra is of course the space where we hold LOVE, COMPASSION, KINDNESS and RELATING—- to others and OURSELF. ⁣ ⁣ The heart chakra, chest and upper back are located in the center of us. So what does that mean? What’s above and below it affect that space and vice versa!!! (Physically and literally) Issues here can affect the low back and neck. ⁣ ⁣⁣ We continue to build on from here as well. If you haven’t noticed, everything is connected in the body, mind, and energetic systems of the body.
