Today is the 8th day after surgery, still having my stitches on the wounds. My doctor asked me how I can still smile with four holes on my side ribs, it should be very painful. I didn't know how to answer and I smiled back. Right...Why I can still be smiling in pain? . Everyday is a learning day for me now, and it is very difficult to be honest, to switch to a sedentary lifestyle from a super active one. I did cry once, for not being able to put on my clothes by myself. I miss my jog in the park, I miss my Hot 26 practice, I miss my flight attendant job, but I know I have to be patient, to respect my body, and to trust my self healing ability. I cried because I want my true feeling to be expressed and faced. So lucky that I am recovering quite well and the healing process is faster than I expected. . I guess I can still smile in pain because I know clear about pain, physically and mentally. I never run away from pain anymore but face it. When I dive deep enough in pain, I find it's actually not hard to smile because the peacefulness underneath is so powerful that it can walk me through all suffering. . Camatkarasana, Wild thing pose, my favourite heart opening pose. I used to strongly dislike it before because my upper back wasn't flexible enough, but I knew that I had to practice it in order to progress. Now it has become a whole lot more enjoyable and I love it! 😆😁 This is what I adore about yoga. It really teaches you that change starts within yourself. It's up to you to decide whether you'll hang in there and stay focused on the goal, or choose the easier path. Don't get me wrong, sometimes choosing the easier path is also wise. The most important thing is to listen to your body and let it guide you. It's okay to tolerate a bit of discomfort in order to gain more flexibility, but never push your body to the extents of extreme pain. As I get older I realize that I can’t be a people pleaser. It’s not fair to have to accommodate to others and sacrifice what I want and who I am just to make others happy. How is that even fair to ourselves if we do? It’s not being true to yourself if you give in to all the people that want to change you. In my opinion if people wanting to change you, that’s not for the good, shouldn’t be allowed in your life. People in your life should be uplifting and encouraging. They should not make you feel guilty or ashamed of who you are. They also shouldn’t make you change just to make themselves happy.
